Teaching EFL in Iraq: Challenges and Opportunities

This presentation describes selected student-centered strategies focusing on interactions with students in a university EFL setting in Baghdad, Iraq. Interactional activities include brainstorming, group work for active learning, and listening practice. Challenges and learning gains in the acquisition of English by Iraqi learners will be discussed.

I am an Assistant Lecturer at Baghdad University. I received my B. A. in English Language from Baghdad university, and an M. A. in Modern American Drama from Al-Yarmouk University Jordan. I participated in TESOL International 2011.
