This mixed methods research explored the nature of reading motivation of 95 EAP students and examined the relationships between reading motivation constructs and reading proficiency (RP). The qualitative results indicated that EAP students are motivated to read academic expository texts due to intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and self-efficacy.
